The Facelift is one of the most popular procedures that has been thought of as the cosmetic surgery procedure to the stars. However, for many years regular individuals have seen the benefits of having a facelift to reduce the signs of aging in the face.

Many people think a facelift is a procedure for the whole face. It is, in fact, a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the lower half of the face, jaw line and neck. So, if you’re seeing jowls, sagging and wrinkling of your face and sagging of your neck (turkey gobbler), a facelift could be an excellent choice to improve these areas.

Dr. Paul Blair, medical director of his Facial Plastic Surgery practice in West Virginia is a specialist in the field of the facelift procedure. When he meets with you during your consultation he will listening carefully to your concerns and “what really bothers you”.

A medical history and an exam are performed to evaluate your face and skin to make sure you’re a good candidate for the facelift. You will have an opportunity to review before and after photos of our patients who had a facelift. During the consultation Dr. Blair will go over all of the aspects of the facelift procedure as he determines if you are a good candidate for the procedure and explains the improvement you can expect.

A facelift can not make you look like you’re in your twenties, but you will look 10 years younger on the average. Also, other procedures that can enhance your facelift and appearance will be discussed.

Your facelift and any other procedures to improve your appearance are usually performed in the office under local anesthesia, and if wanted, oral sedation can be given. However, if you desire to be put to sleep, your facelift can be done under general anesthesia at the hospital.

Each person’s recovery is unique. There can be bruising and swelling. Bruising usually is gone in 10 to 14 days. Sutures are removed approximately 8-10 days after your surgery. At the time of suture removal, bruising can be improved with a laser. Returning to your normal activity is dependent on activity level and your speed of recovery.

If when you look into the mirror you are unhappy with your lower face, we encourage you to contact our office to schedule a personalized consultation with Dr. Blair. He will provide all the information you need to determine if this is the right procedure for you.  Call (304) 201-3223 today.
